• You can easily ski at Whistler and stay at Lockehaven. It is only a 1 3/4 hour drive, now that the "Sea to Sky" Highway (Highway 99) has been greatly improved for the Olympics.

• There are 3 excellent ski hills in North and West Vancouver, only about a 30 minute drive from Lockehaven, on Vancouver's "North Shore"

• All 3 North Shore ski hills have night skiing

• You can conveniently enjoy the sights, restaurants, activities and shopping of beautiful Vancouver and ski.

• There are breathtaking views of Vancouver city and the Coastal areas from the Grouse and Cypress ski hills.

• You can easily save 50% on accommodation for your ski vacation, because Lockehaven offers its lowest rates in winter, whereas winter is the high rate season in Whistler.

• Ski lift tickets on the 3 North Shore hills are less than half the cost of those at Whistler

• Cypress Mountain in West Vancouver is the largest of the 3 ski areas on Vancouver's North Shore. With over 50 ski runs, 600 acres of skiable terrain and over 2,000 feet of vertical drop for skiing, it is comparable to the best ski areas in eastern North America. It also often has the best snow conditions on the North Shore.
• Cypress is the freestyle skiing and snowboarding site for the Olympics in February 2010. It will be open for skiing to the public after March 8 and up to the end of April, depending on how long good snow conditions last.
• Hollyburn Mountain, part of the Cypress area, is noted for its Cross-Country (Nordic) Ski trails

• Grouse Mountain at the north end of Capilano Road in North Vancouver is famous for its "Sky Ride", a cable car gondola that lifts you from the parking area at the top of Capilano Road up to the lodge on the mountain.
• Grouse offers magnificent views of the city and is mid-way between Cypress and Mt. Seymour for the extent and quality of the skiing. It also has an excellent restaurant, called The Observatory.

• Mount Seymour is the closest to Lockehaven. It is more of a family-oriented hill and the lodge and amenities are more rustic.
• As such, although it may not be very challenging for advanced skiers, it is particulary well-suited to beginners.
